Abner's Classic Corona
I bought a bundle of these after discussion on another board. I was a bit reluctant to get them because of the price - $3.50 per stick. But the hype says, "Better than CAO, Padron ..." So, as a gar fanatic always looking for the elusive GREAT cigar, I gave it a whirl.
Opening the pack these smelled young with just a hint of grassy odor. However, they looked beautiful! Silky wrapper, great color and smooth. However, the one I tried was a bit spongy and the head was underfilled, so it had to be clipped a bit more than I would like. I smoked this Corona 2 days OTT and it seems to be a very good cigar that needs nap time. There is the potential of great flavor here, but for the advertised "three year aged tobacco", I do not think this one delivered. I will let the remainder of these rest a bit before smoking them. All in all, Cadfael gives this cigar a "no decision" until it has time to stabalize. But for the price, I would be tempted to buy other more reliable smokes. |
