modify my Kaywoodie Super Grain

I have a newer Kaywoodie Super Grain . The stinger on the stem is one that is more of a ' T' and has very small holes .
I am tempted to take my dremel tool and a cut-off wheel and whack the end of the stinger off. Have any of you folks ever modified your pipes like that ? If so , was the effect what you had hoped ?
