2001... big black dark fruits, mushrooms, long long long finish.... this stuff is priceless

I mean wow

no no truffles more mushrooms

tobacco.... really dark fruits... herbal plums

did I say wow?

paired with ribeye, English peas and hash browns

An old favourite, which I haven't had in a little while. (The Faustino V Reserva is pretty darn tasty as well.) Heck, I can remember when the Gran Reserva could be bought for around CDN$7 a bottle. (Yes... that was a long time ago!)

it was 6 euro in Spain at the Carrefour grocery (I think, I was so stunned at the wine selection I was having a moment)

I was similarly impressed with some of the wine and liquor prices at El Corte Inglés in Barcelona... Nabbed a 'bargain' bottle of White Horse Scotch (amongst other items) to tide me over during our stay there.

I bought a bottle of DHC at a grocery in Vitoria... it is not a great whiskey but...

and yes El Corte Ingles is great for food, wine, spirits and cigars
